About Us
Chasing Dragonflies is a genre-bending band that blurs the lines between progressive, rock, and pop music. While they aim for originality, Chasing Dragonflies doesn’t take things too seriously; they blend jokey skits and poems with prismatic instrumentation. Their ambitious melodies and time signature changes often border on “unhinged,” but are always fun.Based in Toronto, the foursome is a picture of the city’s diversity and its scrappy arts scene. Between bassist Alex Kehm, guitarist Gabe Gutiérrez, drummer Mike Cappello, and vocalist Taylor Newlands, the band writes, records, and produces all of their own songs in their basement home studio. There’s no fancy editing or overdone production here — it’s real music, made by real people with real instruments, for anyone looking for something authentic in an increasingly artificial world.
